Our client has a wonderful opportunity for a Director of Nursing to join their team in an elderly care facility  offering the highest standards of care in comfortable homely surroundings in Co Mayo. 

With an emphasis on maintaining high quality standards, the Director of Nursing appointed will have full autonomy and responsibility for the day to day management of the Nursing Home and its operations, service delivery and care provided.

This role holds a high level of autonomy in a supportive environment where relationships and communication are key.

Core Responsibilities:

• Day to day management, co-ordination and evaluation of nursing care and services provided to residents.  
• Deliver and maintain excellent quality care standards, ensuring policies are in accordance with organisational objectives and in line with regulations
• Recruitment of new staff.
• Training and development of staff.
• Maintaining the ethos of a ‘home away from home’ and a warm, caring, supportive environment whilst ensuring person-centred care.
• Ensure on-going and effective communications between departments.
• Actively engage and participate in the on-going auditing and improvement of internal processes, structures, policies and procedures with an emphasis on risk management.

Personal & Technical Specification:

• This role will suit a highly professional individual who has a proven genuine interest in the field of elderly care,
  excellent communication skills and empathy.
• Registration with An Bord Altranais and engaged in continuous professional development
• Previous experience at Director of Nursing level preferable
• 3 years + management experience essential  
• 3 years’ experience in nursing the elderly within the last 6 years essential
• Management and/or Gerontology qualification highly advantageous or the desire to obtain such qualifications
• Thorough working knowledge of HIQA standards, regulations and inspections is essential.
• Computer skills
