Assistant Director of Nursing (ADON), Kilcoole, Wicklow

In partnership with our client a reputable Nursing Home in Kilcoole, Wicklow Cpl Healthcare are seeking to recruit an Assistant Director of Nursing. 

The Assistant Director of Nursing will be responsible for the coordination and evaluation of nursing care and services provided to residents.

The Assistant Director of Nursing will support the Director of Nursing in leading the direction and supervision of a dedicated team of staff nurses, support staff, coordinators, practitioners and allied healthcare professionals.

About Kilcoole:

Kilcoole is about an hour south of Dublin and 20 minutes north of Wicklow town. It's 3KM south of Greystones, and other nearby towns include; Arklow, Blessington, and Bray.

It was home to the famous Irish television series Glenroe, which ran through the 1980s and 1990s on RTE.  The site is  now an Open Farm, a popular visitor attraction centre.

Kilcoole is a seaside town, with beach which mainly comprises of stone and shingle.  It's a paradise for bird watchers being the summertime home to the little tern, one of the few places in Ireland where these birds nest. 

A coastal path runs along the beach along which you can walk to Greystones and on to Bray along the Cliff Walk or in the other direction towards Newcastle and the East Coast Nature Reserve and on to Wicklow.

Kilcoole is 1KM from the well renowned Druids Glen Golf Resort.  Kilcoole would be a lovely place to live and work, set in a peaceful and tranquil coastal settings with great to amenties and access to wider infrastructure to Dublin and the rest of Ireland also.



  • Must have 3- 5 years relevant post registration nursing experience.
  • Must possess management/supervisory experience, including team leadership with resource planning and allocation.
  • Must have the ability to communicate effectively with residents, relatives/visitors, employees, management and external bodies e.g. GPs, hospitals, HSE, HIQA, etc.
  • Post-registration qualification in Gerontology or Dementia Care and / or a Post-registration qualification in healthcare management or equivalent will be an advantage. In the absence of such a qualification, the appointee will be required to undertake such training.
