Private Hospital in Dublin is looking for GI Physiologist . They are flexible full time or part time.
The suitable candidate must be familiar with the techniques and range of equipment used in current medical practice for the diagnosis, treatment and care of patients referred to the GI Function Laboratory.
Specifically :
- High Resolution Oesophageal Manometry
- 24 hour pH & Impedance Studies
- High Resolution Anorectal Manometry
Key Duties and Responsibilities:
- Perform the required diagnostic test adhering to departmental policies, reporting and highlighting any abnormal or inconsistent results and take corrective action if necessary.
- Conduct the assigned GI physiology tests to a high standard of safety adhering to departmental policies at all times.
- Conduct routine calibration, quality control and preventative maintenance.
- Administer local anaesthetic (Lidocaine spray) as necessary/required within the department for the relevant test.
- Prepare the patient for procedures e.g. history taking, interpreting request forms, explaining procedure and reassuring .
- Record and compile results in an accurate and timely manner for reporting by medical staff.
- Clean/disinfect/sterilise equipment to manufacturer’s recommendations and in conjunction with infection control policies in the hospital.
- Maintain adequate and accurate patient files to facilitate efficient retrieval of previous and current test reports assist the Chief II to compile ongoing statistics of workload.
- Undertake clerical duties where appropriate e.g. filing reports, making appointments, dealing with telephone queries etc.
- Maintain stringent quality control management to ensure ongoing accurate reliable results and a safe laboratory environment for both staff and patients.
Requirements
- Possess the BSc in Clinical Measurement from Technological University Dublin (TUD) (formerly DIT) or equivalent as confirmed by the Irish Institute of Clinical Measurement Physiologists (IICMP).
- Or
- ii) Possess the Certificate in Medical Physics and Physiological Measurement (MPPM) from Technological University Dublin (TUD) (formerly DIT) or equivalent as confirmed by the Irish Institute of Clinical Measurement Physiologists (IICMP).
- Or
- iii) Possess an equivalent relevant scientific qualification (Level 8) as confirmed by the Irish Institute of Clinical Measurement Physiologists (IICMP).
- Essential Experience
- Candidates must have a minimum of 3 years satisfactory relevant post qualification experience.
