Clinical/Counselling Psychologist (staff grade) – residential care

 Cpl Healthcare, in partnership with our client, a leading residential care provider for young people, are currently recruiting for a Staff Grade Clinical or Counselling Psychologist to join a well structured, multi-disciplinary team.

 We are particularly keen to hear from applicants with an interest/experience in Dyadic Developmental Psychotherapy.

 Reporting to the Senior Clinical Psychologist, you will provide trauma-informed assessment, formulation, consultation, and intervention to young people in residential and stepdown services.

 This is a unique opportunity to be at the forefront of service development as our client work toward embedding trauma-responsive care throughout the organisation. We are keen to hear from candidates who are passionate about service development and innovation in their roles.

 This is a full-time role. The successful applicant will be based in Co. Carlow and flexible working arrangements are available.

 We welcome application from newly qualified Psychologists and those due to graduate in 2024.

 Interested candidates should have:

A recognised university degree or diploma with first- or second-class honours in which Psychology was taken as major subject and honours obtained in that subject,

And

  • A post-graduate professional qualification in Clinical or Counselling psychology, which meets the requirements of competency-based evaluation and standards set out by the Psychological Society of Ireland.
  • Applicants with qualifications obtained outside of Ireland must provide a certificate of validation of their qualifications from the Department of Health

 Professional experience

  • Experience in working with children and adolescents as part of a wider multidisciplinary team involving a range of professionals e.g. Consultants / Medical Doctors, Nurses, Social Workers, Occupational Therapists, Speech and Language Therapists and other health care professionals.
  • Experience in working with children and adolescents under 18 years with co-morbid mental health difficulties, intellectual disability, and/or neuro-developmental differences.
  • Experience of engaging with clients in direct therapeutic work individually, or in group settings and indirectly through consultation with other professionals and liaising and intervening with and through family members or guardians as appropriate.
  • Experience of working with a range of severity and complexity of psychological presentations from mild problems requiring early intervention (e.g. mild depression and anxiety) to more severe and enduring issues such as severe emotional dysregulation, and trauma.
  • The ability to engage young people, build rapport and develop trust.
