The role:
The States of Guernsey are looking to appoint a Qualified Clinical Coder to join the team at Hospital Services.
The right candidate will provide an efficient and high-quality diagnostic and operative Clinical Coding Service, by collating & coding inpatient activity in line with International Classification of Diseases version 10 (ICD10) and Office of Population Census version 4 (OPCS -4.10) rules and regulations. The post holder will report to the Medical Records
Manager and be accountable to the Director of Public Health.
Requirements:
· Authorisation to live and work in Guernsey
· To be ACC Qualified and to have recently been audited and attended refresher courses.
· Proven experience of using Trakcare or SimpleCode (or equivalent programs) for inputting clinical codes.
· Ability to analyse information and make rational judgments whilst maintaining high level of accuracy and attention to detail.
· Good knowledge and skills in the identification of medical terminology, anatomical and physiological terms
· Experience of working with highly confidential, sensitive or contentious material.
· Ability to prioritise own work and work under own initiative whilst remaining positive and constructive under pressure.
· Ability to communicate with a wide range of staff employed by the States of Guernsey and the Medical Specialist Group.
· Excellent written and verbal communication skills. Good IT skills including competence in Microsoft Office software, including Word and Excel.
