Grade: Band 5 £36,899 - £42,779 BAR £43,954 - £47,590 per annum.

The States of Guernsey is looking for Orthopaedic Staff Nurses to join their Orthopaedic Unit.

The Orthopaedic Unit comprises of De Sausmarez Ward, a 15- 18 bedded trauma ward and De Havilland, a 9 bedded elective unit while supporting the Orthopaedic Pre-Assessment Clinic. The Orthopaedic staff rotate between the two wards to allow for their ongoing training and development.

De Sausmarez Ward manages orthopaedic trauma patients. This includes spinal injuries, upper and lower limb fractures, and back pain. Many have complicated nursing needs, require MDT input, and complex discharge planning.De Havilland Ward, and Orthopaedic Pre-Assessment manage the elective joint replacements. This includes preoperative review by nursing staff, Physiotherapist and Occupation Therapists. This identifies any concerns prior to the patient being admitted. De Havilland patients are admitted for elective procedures including hip, knee, shoulder, wrist, hand and ankle surgery.

Requirements:

·        Be a Qualified Nurse with NMC Registration

·        Authorisation to live and work in Guernsey

·        Recent relevant work experience i.e. Orthopaedic Nursing

·        Competence in intravenous drug administration

·        Portfolio of evidence to meet KSF agreed criteria

·        Experience co-ordinating ward activities, delegating appropriately.

·        Evidence of effective communication skills; with reference to Multidisciplinary team working, service users, carers and managers.

·        Ability to prioritise and organise own workload.

·        Understanding and ability to apply evidence-based care.

·        Evidence of self and professional development.
