Graduating as a Nurse in 2012, what’s the next step?

Nurses graduating in 2012 must be feeling a little uneasy about their future and what direction their nursing career is going to take. You turn on the radio and the topics of choice are spending cuts, IMF coming to Ireland and the Anglo Promissory notes. So what do you do? Are you going to stay in Ireland and wait for our economy to right itself while not developing your nursing career or are you going to make a move out of Ireland and kick start your career in the direction you want it to go?

Less than an hour away opportunities are plentiful for New Graduate Nurses, London Independent Hospitals offer acute hospital experience, exposure to cutting edge health care and the opportunity to take a number of interesting courses to boost your nursing career. I can say this with some conviction because when I qualified as Nurse there were few vacancies in Ireland so I relocated to London and worked in the well renowned Guys and St Thomas Trust. These two years shaped my nursing career and gave me the opportunity to branch into critical care, nurses as junior as I was would find it difficult to do the same in Ireland.

Definitely London is the place to go whether you are a New Graduate Nurse or an experienced Specialised Nurse, opportunities are plentiful.
Follow my blog as I will be providing information on how to obtain a nursing job in the UK, advice and preparation, interview coaching, applying for Garda vetting checks and guidance through the NMC registration process, not to mention relocation information.
