VSO Ireland has launched a maternal and neonatal health programme in Karamoja, Uganda. This programme is aimed at providing life saving healthcare services to at risk pregnant teenagers and their babies.

In partnership with VSO, Cpl Healthcare is recruiting medical volunteers to work alongside local partners to increase their knowledge of disease prevention & treatment in an attempt to save young lives.

VSO Ireland has provided essential training and knowledge in a number of communities throughout Africa. In Ethiopia, VSO reduced neonatal mortality rates by 40% in some hospitals due to the implementation of NICUs (Neonatal Intensive Care Units).

Who are we looking for?

Nurse & Midwife Mentors:

These volunteers will assist in the delivery of the Nursing and Midwifery programme by mentoring local nurses & midwives in neonatal and obstetric care.

Nurses & Midwives with sexual and reproductive health experience:

These medical professionals will train local workers in the delivery of sexual and reproductive health care.

Neonatal Nurses:

Nurses are needed to provide training for the care of new born babies and implement support programmes including antenatal care.

Are you eligible?

  • You will need min. 3 years’ experience in any of the above areas
  • NMBI registration
  • Ability to commit to 12 months volunteering time in Uganda
