Hours: Monday – Friday

Cpl Healthcare in partnership with our client a non profit organisation based in Dublin, Ireland that provides services for people who are homeless and people at risk of homelessness in Ireland are currently recruiting an Aftercare Project Worker in South Dublin

To work as part of the Aftercare Team providing support and settlement services to young people leaving care or who are in the process of settling into a new home. This is a great opportunity for someone looking to further develop their skills working with young people in the Aftercare sector

 

What you will do:

·      To undertake work with an agreed number of individuals in the community and to provide appropriate supports.

·      To prepare young people for leaving care by developing a Aftercare Plan and implementing the plan jointly with the young person’s social worker.

·      To prepare young people gradually and holistically, paying attention to their practical, self-care needs, health, budgeting, and domestic skills, as well as their psychosocial needs.

·      To assist young people in finding suitable accommodation.

·      To ensure that young people leaving care receive their full income entitlements, if applicable.

·      To inform young people leaving care of the available services.

·      To maximise the education, training and employment outcomes for young people leaving care.

·      To monitor the progress of young people who have left care.

·      To make contact with local services and relevant community groups in different areas relevant to the needs of the Young Person. 

·      To establish effective links as is appropriate between Focus Ireland and such groups.

·      To develop resource materials with the assistance of other team members, on services in local areas.

·      To liaise with and inform the Manager on a regular basis, of issues arising from work with individual cases.

·      To implement the existing policies and procedures of the project and of Focus Ireland.

·      To work in close liaison and co-operation with other Focus Ireland Services.

·      To participate in relevant training and development courses and in project evaluation.

·      To attend and contribute to Team, Section, Divisional and Agency meetings as required.

·      To undertake such other duties as might be reasonably assigned from time to time in consultation with the Manager, Section Manager or Divisional Head of Services.

·      To be vigilant to any Health, Safety and Welfare risks in the workplace and bring any concerns to the attention of your line manager or Health & Safety Representative.

 

What you will need:

·      2+ years relevant experience working with young people in care or marginalised young people or equivalent

·      Third level qualification in social care or related field.

·      Proven experience of key-working clients or individual casework.

·      Experience of managing challenging behaviour.

·      Must have own car and full clean drivers’ licence.

 

Ideally:

·      Good understanding of the issues affecting young people leaving care and in aftercare.

·      Flexibility.

·      Understanding of Child Protection
