An exciting opportunity has arisen for an enthusiastic and motivated Senior Diabetes Dietitian to join the Nutrition & Dietetic team in Jersey. As part of this role, you will contribute to the development of the diabetes service and work operationally within the Diabetes Centre.

Job Summary: The Senior Diabetes Dietitian will provide dietary advice and support to people with type 1 or type 2 diabetes attending specialist outpatient clinics, as well as gestational diabetes. You will have the opportunity to work collaboratively with the diabetes team and deliver group diabetes education sessions in the community. This role offers the chance to join a supportive Dietetic team and work as part of the Diabetes MDT alongside consultants, specialist nurses, and podiatrists.

Main Duties:

  • Professionally and legally responsible for a caseload of patients, undertaking comprehensive nutritional assessments, and initiating treatment/management plans for adult patients with diabetes.
  • Participate in one-to-one dietetic counselling and group education sessions for patients and staff.
  • Plan and implement highly specialized assessment, evaluation, treatment, and management of patients with complex needs.
  • Provide learning opportunities and education to HCS professionals and the wider community on the nutritional management of adults with diabetes.
  • Participate in audit activity and service evaluation within the area of Diabetes to support future strategy work.

Essential requirements

  • Experience working as a general or junior dietitian across a variety of clinical settings and specialties. Experience in multidisciplinary team collaboration.
  • Relevant experience in the related field. 
  • BSc Hons Degree in Human Nutrition and Dietetics or Postgraduate Diploma/MSc in Human Nutrition and Dietetics. Registration with the Health Care Professions Council (HCPC) and British Dietetic Association (BDA). Evidence of Continuing Professional Development.

Desirable: 

  • Accredited post-registration training in relevant areas. Membership to BDA Specialist Interest group. Knowledge of legislation relevant to the specialist area.
